Regulatory Analysis
Earthpace researches and analyzes environmental laws, regulations, and multilateral environmental agreements and develops strategies for its clients to meet legal and policy objectives.

Earthpace assists governments around the world in implementing their regulatory programs and developing systems to measure and manage performance. Earthpace has advised governments on legislative reforms and has designed applications for the use of satellite remote sensing data in compliance monitoring, emergency response, impact assessment, water resources, and other regulatory contexts.

• Earthpace has designed applications for digital technologies including satellite remote sensing and geographic information systems to improve decision making in the environmental impact assessment process mandated by the National Environmental Policy Act.
• Earthpace designed, negotiated, and oversaw the implementation of litigation strategies for matters under programs including the Clean Water Act, the Safe Drinking Water Act, the Clean Air Act, and Superfund (and their state-implemented progeny). • Earthpace advised the real estate developer and citizens group of Cameron Station Citizens Association in Northern Virginia on the wetlands issues surrounding a staging area used for construction equipment during the nearby Wilson bridge construction.

Performance Measurement and Environmental Valuation
Earthpace develops economic-based strategies for watershed planning, wetlands and forest conservation, and brownfield redevelopment, and explores methods for using performance measurement to ensure environmental actions respond to programmatic goals.

• Earthpace President Ken Markowitz manages the International Network for Environmental Compliance and Enforcement (INECE) Expert Working Group on Environmental Compliance and Enforcement Indicators. Mr. Markowitz recently co-authored a paper, "The INECE Indicators Project: Improving Environmental Compliance and Enforcement Through Performance Measurement."
• Earthpace worked with a team from the Chesapeake Bay Laboratories/University of Maryland to create a Web site commissioned by the US Department of Agriculture on Ecosystem Valuation and Benefit Indicators.

Environmental Campaigns
Earthpace conducts research and provides analysis on regulatory and policy issues in support of public awareness campaigns and other advocacy efforts. Earthpace's team of experienced lawyers and policy experts develop accessible, informative summaries and white papers on US and international laws and regulations.

• Earthpace provided technical assistance to a major international non-government organization regarding the development of campaign options to respond to the increasing threat to human health and the environment posed by chronic oiling from land- and marine-based sources.
